Andrew Tate, a prominent figure in the cryptocurrency space, has been charged with several serious crimes, including rape, human trafficking, and organized crime. Tate, who has been an advocate for Bitcoin and Ethereum, will reportedly defend his innocence and work to clear his name, according to his legal team.
According to reports, Romanian authorities have seized a significant portion of Bitcoin assets belonging to social media influencer Andrew Tate, who is currently facing accusations of rape, human trafficking, and organized crimes with the intention of sexually exploiting women. The seizure includes 15 luxury cars, 14 watches, 15 properties, and Bitcoin worth $560,000 from the 36-year-old Tate.
According to a press release issued by the Office of Information and Public Relations at the Romanian Directorate for the Investigation of Organized Crime and Terrorism, the indictment names four suspects, including Andrew Tate’s brother Tristan, who is currently under house arrest.
There is currently no information available on the exact amount of cryptocurrency owned by Andrew Tate. However, it is known that Romanian authorities seized Bitcoin worth nearly $500,000 from him in December 2022, following his arrest in the country. Tate has gained notoriety on social media for his controversial and misogynistic comments.
Andrew Tate has a history of making controversial and offensive statements, including comparing women to dogs and suggesting that they share some of the blame for their own rape. Following allegations of sexual assault in the UK, which were later dismissed, Tate relocated to Romania.
In an appearance on the Fresh&Fit podcast last year, Andrew Tate allegedly boasted about his ability to generate income by convincing multiple women in the UK to engage in videochat and share their earnings with him. However, Romanian prosecutors have made allegations that the Tate brothers employed a different tactic, seducing their victims with promises of relationships or marriages before exploiting them.
According to prosecutors, the victims were taken to locations outside of Bucharest, where they were sexually exploited and forced to create pornographic content for social media platforms, which generated significant financial profits.
Prosecutors have charged Andrew Tate with raping one of the victims, while his brother Tristan has been accused of inciting others to engage in violent behavior. Both Tate and Tristan will now face trial in court after their formal indictment.
The trial is unlikely to begin in the near future and may prolong for several years. Both brothers have denied the accusations, and their legal representatives have stated that they are prepared to prove their innocence and clear their names.
